Artist STATEMENT

General Artist Statement

I came to making art because I am; I believe art-making is an inexplicable act that is innately human, and therefore was something I felt as compelled to do as breath air. To be human is to be an artist, and in saying that, to be alive is to be engaged in the act of creative collaboration with whatever greater powers that be. As such, each piece of work I make is an expression and exploration of my own human experience. My art is created in the the intersections of identity, biology, geography, history and personal narrative; as I have lived it, so art is made of it. In it’s totality, I am working towards the development, gathering, preservation and dissemination of the creative research drawn from my own lived, human experience.
